Drug Testing

Students, employees and volunteers must complete a urine drug test before starting at St. Vincent's Medical Center.

This is a routine screening required of health professionals.

The cost for this testing is included in the application fee.

Banned substances ingested within 8-12 weeks of the test will be detected and will result in a permanent ban from the RA Program.

When you submit your Information Questionnaire and application fee you may go to the of St. Vincent's Urgent Care Walk-In Centers in Monroe or Shelton. No appointment is necessary and drug testing is conducted on a walk-in basis.

You must bring your completed Immunzation Form to the drug screening! Without this, the IHC will not go forward with your drug test. This form must be filled in by your physician!

This is the form for drug testing you will be required to sign at the IHC:

It usually takes from 7-10 days from the urine specimen until the results are reported back.

RAs are encouraged to get this accomplished as soon as possible so they can be cleared to begin their work in the emergency department immediately following their training session.

Since training includes seeing patients in the emergency department,

  • this means getting drug testing done at least 7-10 days before the start of their training session
  • recognizing that those coming from away for the summer semester have housing issues in terms of when they can move into the dorms,  they must report to one of the IHCs no later than the Friday before their orientation weekend.
