  • If you are interested in doing this, please contact Dr. Keith Bradley at director@RAprogram.org for further direction.

The Research Associates Program uses a rolling admission process, based on the date when the on-line payment of the application fee is received.

It is important that you submit your application fee to insure your placement in the RA program as soon as possible.

If you apply and slots within the program are not available, then we will refund your application fee.

RAs serve their shifts in pairs, so there are eighty-four slots each semester

  • applications received after those slots are filled are placed on a "wait list"

During orientation, RAs choose their weekly shift in a lottery determined by:

  1. the number of semesters served as a RA  - including productivity during those semesters
  2. special circumstances (e.g., travel time)
  3. and, most importantly, by date the application fee is received

First year students in the fall semester are encouraged to wait until the spring semester before starting the RA Program.  We want them to focus on getting a solid start in their academics before beginning this significant volunteer commitment.  There have been rare exceptions to this rule, but only at the discretion of the Health Professions Adviser.

Graduating high school seniors may participate in the RA program during the summer semester before entering college.

Application is made through the normal process, except:

  • The letter of endorsement should be obtained from the applicant's guidance counselor instead of health professions advisor.
  • Please contact the Chief RA for Recruiting with the name of the college/university the applicant has been accepted at and will be attending that fall.
  • The Program Director will contact the Health Professions Adviser at that school for permission for the applicant to contact them for their endorsement as well.
