St. Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport CT
The Chief Research Associates are positions for college graduates who will
be applying for the medical school class entering in the fall, approximately
fourteen (14) months after starting as Chief.

This post-bac year is designed for those who:
  • decided to pursue medicine late in their college careers or
  • are planning on a year between college and medical school or
  • a competitive GPA, about 3.5
  • preferably with MCATs taken with a Total Score in the 30
    range, with no "7s"
  • have initially been denied acceptance to medical school
  • "just missed" candidates who need a year of significant work
to put their application over the top.
  • not on a medical school "wait list" after 1 April, though exceptions are
    possible
Chief Research Associate (CRA) - who
While some funding may be available, it is dependent on grants and cannot be assured year to year.

All of our previous Chiefs have had part- to full-time jobs in addition to their RA work.

Most often, at least one of the Chiefs comes from among candidates who have already served a semester
or more as a line RA in the ED.
